I feel poetry is leaving me
It just doesn’t flow like how it should be
I am doubting if I am still a poet
And this is making me really upset

I feel like there’s nothing new to write
Even if I try and try with my whole might
Am worried cause am still missing the song
I truly wish that this shouldn’t prolong

But I promise to keep it alive
Even if I have to really strive
Everyday is not the same day
So am hoping I will soon find a way

Am sure,when the melody flows
I’ll connect the words so it grows
To a new poem that I can post
And again a poet born in me almost!

  1. The poet is right there. Just delve a little different the next time you pick a pen and run out of muse. Just think of whatever is in front of you. Make it your muse, and jot down whatever feels kiss your soul in this moment. Try it, you are a fine writer. Your pen is your bestie, feed it everyday with the ink of your feelings and thoughts and let them have a duet on the paper of your choice. πŸ˜€

  4. I sometimes go for extended periods without writing poetry. Often it is a good thing, since many of my poems came from difficult times. You can’t force inspiration, it has to come to you on its own. But remember, once a poet, always a poet.

  22. I relate to the feeling and I remember the grief when I first felt this way, I wrote poetry about poetry leaving me too. It is a gift that keeps returning on its own whim and there are other gifts to be discovered in the spaces in between. You are a heartfelt and heartful writer, wishing you amazing new discoveries with your writing and you will find poetry right by your side still and flowing through soon!

  23. This feeling is called writer’s block and it’s an entirely natural thing for a writer to feel sometimes. Sometimes the words really just don’t flow as well as normal and that’s okay. Sometimes taking a break or looking at things from a different angle helps or being inspired by reading other people’s works. Thanks for writing about it so eloquently, you’ve clearly written exactly how it feels like in some very beautiful words. ❀

I have been wondering about people who posts 7 to 8 poems a day. πŸ™„πŸ™„ May be it’s very short, but still they make more than 10 posts a day. How on earth is that possible!? πŸ€”

      1. Honestly, I commend them. I suspect they are tapping into a gust of inspiration. I’ve felt that before, and I couldn’t stop writing. We’ve just got to keep trying and maybe we’ll write so much, our hands will hurt soon. πŸ˜„

  26. Poetry will never leave you. It simply will never. Even with an apparent β€œwriter’s blog”, you are still poetic. I don’t need to tell you this, but people are usually at their creative best after a writer’s block. It’s just an indication that you deserve a break. Poetry will miss you if it stays away from you too long. It’s on a vacation and will come back soon πŸ˜‰πŸ€πŸ€

  44. Preethes, I think this experience is a normal part of writing. Indulge in some downtime. Take a walk in nature. Listen to music. Dance. Shop at an open-air farmer’s market. Watch a movie. Call an old friend. Get a good night’s sleep. Real-life experiences doing something you enjoy may reenergize and inspire you.

  46. I have been there too. You write beautiful poems so you will be ok. Sometimes though, you need to be more gentle with yourself. Maybe try a different form of writing for a little while, different types of poetry. Sometimes changing it up unlocks something new. Good luck, my friend!
